Merry Meet!

My name is Javier and I am the founder and creator of Soul Tomes.  For as long as I can recall I have always had an interest in the practice of magic and self-discovery. I have owned and written in many a book along my path but always struggled to find a book that was both beautiful and functional. The journals I found in stores were either too plain and just not expressive of my personality or devotion. I wanted a book that reflected my personal style and interests, one that would also be a powerful tool for personal growth and self-discovery.

Many years ago while browsing at a bookstore, I stumbled upon an old, leather-bound journal that had a beautiful, intricate design and featured a central stone that seemed to glow on the cover.  I was immediately captivated and felt a strong urge to pick it up and look inside.  Alas that was not to be as this particular book already had an owner who was seated comfortably next to it.  She was also keenly aware that I was gawking at her book.  Our eyes locked and what followed was an intense awkward moment that felt like minutes instead of the few seconds it lasted.  My eyes kept going back to that beautiful book just laying there while the only question in my mind was where can I get one just like it.

Having figured me out or maybe she just read my mind, she broke the ice by saying “you want to know where I found it don’t you?”she said while softly patting the jewel gracing the center of the cover.  I answered YES!! with an uncontrolled glee unbecoming a grown man but I didn’t care at the moment.

She smiled and while looking at the book she said “there’s only one in the world like it, I made it myself”.  My heart sank and before I could ask her, again she must have been reading my mind she said she was not interested in making anymore to sell or otherwise.  I could tell she was being very honest with me.  I thanked her for her time and wished her well.

I went home and for a long time I searched through bookstores, websites and even craft events but I never did find a book that reached out to me like that one did.

A few years ago after exhausting myself on searching I decided I would make my own book or at least make the best attempt I could.  I have always been very creative and handy.  I spent months researching the best paper, binding, cover materials, and designs. I also put a lot of thought into the content of the journals, making sure that they were not just a place to write down thoughts, but also a tool for setting and achieving goals, tracking personal growth and development, and as a form of creative expression.  After a time I crafted my first book which I loved and still own and use.  I took it everywhere with me and soon I found myself in the same place that young lady was in with me many years ago.  I could only muster the same reply she had given me when people inquired where I got mine.  I discovered I wasn’t the only one searching and desiring a book like the one I made for myself.  It felt wrong not to share my creativity and skill.  It was then I decided to create my own line of books, combining beauty and functionality.

I soon launched Soul Tomes and slowly began to build a small community of customers.  My books became popular among practitioners of witchcraft and other forms of magic, as well as people who were looking for a tool for self-discovery and personal growth that resonated with them.  I was thrilled to be able to provide a product that helped so many people on their journey of self-discovery.  I had found my calling.  I retired from my old job so that I could focus 100% of my time to crafting new and beautiful books for my customers.  A labor of love and one I take great pride in.
